Hakluyt Society publication No. CXXXI, Second Series. Edited by Michael Roe. lvi, 342pp. One plate, 6 maps (2 folding). Notes, bibliography, index. Gilt-lettered and decorated light blue cloth. A very fine and crisp copy with printed dust jacket. A trading voyage to the Pacific, American west coast, Pacific islands and the East indies, primarily to procure otter furs from the Indians and then to sell them in Canton. The interest in this account is the commerial and domestic detail of what must have been a relatively commonplace voyage, far from the glamour of the sponsored explorers expeditions.
